Charm of Iowa

Jorge and I have never visited Iowa until a road trip we made last week. The city of Dubuque was cold and full of snow everywhere, but we can enjoy the warmness of people there. We were driving around and stop by some places for pictures, coffee, lunch, and dinner. We stop by the Clocktower of Dubuque for a few snap of pictures and the parking ticket lady approached us for advising and place for coffee in town. She was so nice and friendly, comparing to Chicago, They are mean and willing to just give you a parking ticket instead. We stop by a quick stop at Fenelon Place Elevator. In summer it might be fun to get on a ride and enjoy the view. Then we stop by Dubuque Welcome Center just for a few pictures since the weather was extremely cold. The town was quiet on that day. We found a coffee shop and lunch place called Inspire cafe around Millwork historic district. I had a really good cup of Hot Mocha and lunch combo Thai soup and Roasted Red Pepper, Ham and Turkey Sandwich. I got to love my lunch. The service was lovely and helpful.

After lunch, we continue to discover the charming of this town by driving around and drove back to Galena, IL for checking in for our hotel. We stayed in Galena for a night before head back to Chicago.

Night from Dubuque

After we spent time in Galena, Illinois and Dubuque, Iowa. We drove to Davenport, Iowa for an hour. We didn't spend time there much just stop by Riverwalk in downtown. The weather was so cold and we couldn't enjoy it much.

Davenport is the county seat of Scott County in Iowa and is located along the Mississippi River on the eastern border of the state. Davenport was founded on May 14, 1836 by Antoine Le Claire and was named for his friend, George Davenport, a colonel who was stationed at nearby Fort Armstrong during the Black Hawk War. The Census Bureau estimated Davenport's 2011 population to be 100,802.

A quick stop at Davenport was a bit fun. I believe this city has so much to offer in summer and definitely come back soon. Sadly we did not have much time to discover the city but one thing we love and miss about Iowa is people there. Thank you for your warm welcome.
