Motorcycle ride in Phuket, Thailand.

May 14, 2017

After visiting Chiang Mai, Jorge and I flew to Phuket and planed to stay for 4 days before heading to Krabi. This is our first time in Phuket ever and we felt so lost. Luckily I am Thai who speaks the language so things go easier.

Phuket international airport is far from the city like 2 hours. We heard about the taxi to the city is really overprices ( the taxi can end up to 1000 baht), so we took airport shuttle bus to the city which cost 180 to 200 baht per person. Our Hotel is in Kata beach (The Blue Pearl Kata Hotel Phuket, 100/86 - 90 Kata Rd, Karon, Phuket 83100, Thailand)

Our first day of arrival was just chilling at Kata beach. The beach were beautiful.

We enjoyed local wines from 7-eleven. listen to the wave and keep pinching our self if it was real

Next day, An army marches on its stomach! We had a quick light breakfast from 7-eleven .We got ham and cheese with Thai ice coffee for less than 100 baht, let me tell you 7 eleven is our best friend during the trip.

After breakfast, we rent a motorcycle to discover the island for 150 baht a day. It has been 7 years without riding a motorcycle, on top of that riding on left side of the road made me nervous. There is passport, ID, and motorcycle driver license required for the rental, also to drive legally in Thailand.( the fine driving without it is 500 baht, we got stopped at a police checkpoint)

The first quick stop is Karon Viewpoint.

We drove around 10 minutes from the hotel. You can see Kata Noi, Kata and Karon beach from here. This point of view it quite famous and you can avoid crowded like us by going earlier.

The second stop is The Big Buddha.

The 45 meters high Buddha statue (Phra Phuttha Mingmongkhon Akenakkhiri) is one of Phuket’s landmarks. You can see it from many parts of the island and many visitors stop by during their holidays. The Buddha made from white marble, the purpose of building this big buddha is peace and unity . Not only the Big Buddha is the main attraction, but also the view is really stunning.

The third stop is local noodle soup by the local

We were so hungry after visited the Big Buddha.I love Thai noodle soup especially Boat Noodle. We accidentally found local noodle restaurant for lunch. Her food is amazing. If you are not afraid to try local food. I wish all of you can stop by for her Sen lek moo Nam Tok and Cha dum yen ( Boat pork noodle and Thai ice tea) 30 baht each dish only.

The fourth stop is Enjoying sunset at Patong beach.

Patong is an interesting beach I ever experienced. The beach is beautiful and busy, a ton of stores, and bars. We found a spot to park our motorcycle take a wine from our backpack and enjoy the sunset.

The Fifth stop is night in Patong.

I am kinda shocked a little bit how Patong is so pack and full of life at night. There are so many places to stop for cheap beer and drink. We don't know which one to choose. If you like to go party, then you are just right at the Bangla Road in Patong. It is probably the most famous red light district in Thailand. There are not only Lady Bars and Ping Pong Shows, but rather plenty of bars with live music and some large discotheques like the Hollywood or Illusion, which is a mix of club and show. We stopped bySeth Gueko Bar for Chang beer and fun live music. This is one of our favorites.

Day went by so fast. We had such a great day exploring Phuket by motorcycle so far. Chang beer was kicking , the hot air and wind blowing to my face were relaxing and made our first time visiting such an awesome experience.
